CLASS INFORMATION

Cosmetology is set up as a working salon. Learn all about hair including: cut, style, color, permanents, and up-dos. Students also learn the application of facials, theatrical / fantasy make-up, as well as nails and nail designs. Receive training from experts like Chi, Paul Mitchell, Redken, and Matrix through industry shows, field trips, and guest speakers.

Salon is open to the public Tuesday, Thursday & Friday during the school session. Call for actual schedule.

Approved by the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology. Our cosmetology students have maintained a 100% pass rate on the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology exam for the past 14 out of 15 years!

CAREER MAJORS

COSMETOLOGIST

Cosmetologists provide hair care services to enhance the personal appearance of clients. Classroom theory and hands-on application in the model salon/lab focuses on a broad range of services including shampooing, cutting, coloring, perming, relaxing, styling of hair, acrylic and gel nails, manicures, pedicures, scalp and facial treatments, and makeup analysis. In addition, emphasis is given to the principles of customer relations and salon management to provide the foundation needed to become an independent stylist and business owner. Students who successfully complete the curriculum and required 1,500 clock hours of instruction qualify to take the Oklahoma Board of Cosmetology Basic Operator’s exam to become a licensed cosmetologist.

Cosmetologist Gainful Employment

COSMETOLOGY - PUBLIC

This career major is designed for a high school student entering training as a junior. The student will complete 1,000 clock hours of theory and hands-on instruction focused in the same specified areas as in the Cosmetologist career major, with the remaining 500 clock hours being granted upon successfully obtaining the high school diploma. Students who successfully complete the curriculum and required clock hours qualify to take the Oklahoma Board of Cosmetology Basic Operator’s exam to become a licensed cosmetologist.

MASTER INSTRUCTOR

The Master Instructor curriculum provides an Oklahoma licensed cosmetologist who has worked less than two of the previous five years in the field of cosmetology an opportunity to acquire skills required to become a cosmetology instructor. Cosmetology instructors are sought by both private and public institutions. Curriculum and hands-on instruction focus on instructional methods, learning philosophies and professional development. Students who successfully complete the curriculum and required 1,000 clock hours qualify to take the Oklahoma Board of Cosmetology Instructor exam.

Master Instructor Gainful Employment

PRACTICING MASTER INSTRUCTOR

Licensed cosmetologists with two or more years of experience and has been engaged in the practice of cosmetology in the field of cosmetology within the past five years have an opportunity to acquire skills required to become a cosmetology instructor. Cosmetology instructors are sought by both private and public institutions. Curriculum and hands-on instruction focus on instructional methods, learning philosophies and professional development. Students who successfully complete the curriculum and required 500 clock hours qualify to take the Oklahoma Board of Cosmetology Instructor exam.
