VISITING OPPORTUNITIES

CAREER CONNECTION

Central Tech’s Career Connection gives 8th grade students from our sending schools the opportunity to come and experience what students learn at Central Tech.

Students from our current classes set up stations for the visiting 8th graders to interact with. Our current students also are available to answer any questions the 8th graders may have, providing the answers from a student’s perspective.

CENTRAL TECH SHOWCASE

Central Tech Showcase gives sophmore students from our sending schools the opportunity to walk around our campus and visit each of our classrooms and work areas.

The sophmore students are given the freedom to roam our campus by themselves, visiting only the classes they are interested in. They are able to enter classrooms and talk to current students, ask the instructor questions, and see the projects and work they would be completing if they were to take that class.

OPEN HOUSE

Central Tech’s Open House is an annual event that happens every year in February. This event gives the community the opportunity to come in and see first hand what we teach our students. Visitors get the chance to speak with the instructors hear from them what and how they teach. There are a lot of fun activities for all ages, with food and drinks available as well.

Check out the links below to see some photos from past Open House events.

STEM DAY

Central Tech hosts STEM Day every year in March. Activities consist of five different math contests, engineering and scientific problem solving competitions, and demonstrations that are related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses. Student events include: math, competitive engineering, and scientific problem solving contests.

Only ten students per school will be allowed per math test. Students will only be allowed to take one test. The math tests include: Middle School Math, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Advanced Math. Each test will be a timed, multiple-choice test. No calculator usage will be allowed on any of the math contests. In order to compete in a contest, the student must currently be enrolled in the subject area. Any student who has not begun Algebra 1 is eligible for the Middle School Math contest. The Advanced Math contest is for students who are enrolled in a class beyond Algebra II but will specifically concentrate on Trigonometry and some advanced algebra topics.
