Central Tech's 45th Anniversary & Open House

On Sunday, February 15 from 1-4 p.m. Central Tech will host the 45th annual Open House on both the Drumright and Sapulpa campuses. More than 70 attractions and demonstrations are sure to please the whole family as they focus on high-level learning, today’s technology, and interactive experiences.

Doors open at 1 p.m. on both campuses with activities happening throughout the building. At 1:30 p.m. in Drumright, Sooner Legends Barry Switzer, Joe Washington, Jim Riley, Jerry Pettibone and Jay O’Neil will be signing autographs in Truck Driver Training, found in the Transportation & Safety Education building. In Sapulpa, at 2:00 p.m. you can find OSU’s mascot ‘Pistol Pete’ in the seminar center.

At 2:30 p.m. attendees will pack the seminar centers on both campuses as Central Tech streams live feed between campuses and cuts the 45th anniversary cookie. Then at 3:30 p.m. the winner’s name for the grand prize (convertible bench/picnic table) will be drawn in the seminar center. Registrants for the prize will receive a deck of playing cards – 45th anniversary commemorative edition, highlighting 45 years of Central Tech history (while supplies last).

Alumni and former employees are encouraged to stop by the VIP booth in the seminar center to receive a Central Tech 45th anniversary lapel pin (while supplies last).

Health

Participate in the FREE Health Fair where you can check your vital signs, body fat index, oxygen levels in your lungs, blood pressure, glucose levels, and hemoglobin levels. Learn proper hand washing techniques and much more. (Screening vary by campus.)

Learn CPR compressions, practice the Heimlich maneuver, dip your hand in paraffin wax, and try to walk a straight line with the impairment goggles. Tour Surgical Technology and try your hand at laparoscopic surgery.

Transportation

Both campuses have car shows sure to please. Classic and custom car shows will pack the house in Drumright, while Corvettes will blaze a trail to the Sapulpa campus. Prefer two-wheels to four? Powersports Technology showcases antique Harley Davidson bikes and will demonstrate the newly built motorized bicycle.

Want to see yourself behind the wheel of a “big rig”? Come by Diesel and climb inside a semi-truck or visit Truck Driver Training to catch a ride on the truck-driving course.

STEM

Electrify yourself on the Van deGraph in the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics classroom. Operate a robot in Pre-Engineering or take a seat in the flight simulator. Extract DNA from a strawberry in Biomedical Science.

Activities Around Campus

Little ones can dress up in the career of their dreams and pose for a photo, experience the shrinking chip bag and growing gummy bears, or create origami and tessellations before visiting the quilt show on the Drumright campus. Face painting on both campuses. Kids will have a bouncing good time as they run, jump and slide on inflatables, climb the rock wall, enjoy pony rides, or crawl inside their favorite emergency vehicle. (Activities vary by campus.)

Food

Bring your family, and bring your appetite. Tasty food vendors along with free popcorn and cookies can be found in Drumright while free hotdogs, popcorn, cotton candy, and soda pop will be enjoyed in Sapulpa.

Information Technology

Many classes on both campuses offer computer-based activities. The interactive classroom of Network Security & Administration (NSA) in Drumright teaches key phrases for SIRI and OkGoogle while NSA Sapulpa demonstrates programming a microcomputer using an 8x8x8 LED cube.

Arts, Audio/Video Technology

Watch drawings come to life with a 3D pen in Graphic Design, and see how t-shirts are screen-printed and how ideas go from computer to paper in Digital Printing & Imaging Communications. Swing by Interactive Multimedia to try your hand at web design with interactive coding, 3D visual effects modeling, and shoot and edit video.

Architecture & Construction

Tour the construction shop and join the nail driving competition, then stop by Design Drafting to design a room and watch the 3D printer in action. Play a shockingly fun game showing the flow of electricity through a LED interactive board. Enjoy cool demonstrations in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning as you learn to detect refrigerant and gas leaks, and run diagnostics.
