Plains All American Pipeline, L.P. Named Central Tech's Partner for Progress

Plains All American Pipeline, L.P. (Plains) was recognized as the 2014 Central Tech Partner for Progress at the state capital on February 19.

“From the beginning of the oil and gas program in 2006, Plains has been one of the most reliable and generous partners,” said Phil Waul, Central Tech superintendent.

Plains plays a vital role in making Central Tech’s Pipeline and Safety Training Center a state-of-the-art program, providing technicians to assist in building the pipeline simulator and donating thousands of dollars in equipment and parts to use in hands-on training activities for pipeline students, Waul said.

Through financial guidance, Plains assists in directing funds towards areas that could make the most financial impact. They also share technical expertise with input on curriculum development, to help create quality technical training relevant to today’s workforce.

Shawn Roberts, Plains division manager, served on the business and industry advisory board for the past nine years. He recently helped Central Tech develop a two-week new hire development program, a class which all Plains newly hired employees attend.

In addition to Roberts, Plains has provided several experts to help Central Tech. Aaron McGee, a Plains electrical and instrumentation technician, has helped develop a programmable logic controller (PLC) program for students. McGee also helped find companies to donate instruments for the pipeline simulator, which he is actively helping build.

Central Tech is proud to have Plains as a Partner for Progress, and congratulates them on this award. For more information on Central Tech’s buisness and industry services, visit this website..
