Central Tech Honored with the Gold Star of Excellence Award for 23rd Consecutive Year

Central Tech received the Gold Star of Excellence Award for the 23rd consecutive year at the Annual Oklahoma Association of Career and Technical Education summer conference in Oklahoma City, August 1-2, 2013. Central Tech has earned this award more than any other technology center in Oklahoma, having received the award every year since inception in 1990.

For more than 40 years, Central Tech has been committed to being a leader in technical education and workforce development. Central Tech achieves this daily by providing technical education to empower individuals and to elevate the workforce.

This year, Central Tech had more than 95% of completing students placed in related careers or continue their education and 100% of secondary students active in one of the professional student organizations. All three of the student organizations, Business Professionals of America, Health Occupations Students of America, and Skills USA had students win first place at their respective state competitions.

Central Tech strives for excellence and believes in providing a positive learning environment and elevating the worth of all individuals. This is evident through a cooperative alliance agreement with five colleges and universities, through which Central Tech students earned more than 2,490 college credits last year.

Central Tech is a career and technical training center with campuses in Drumright and Sapulpa. Central Tech offers hundreds of career choices in either full-time or short-term courses, with certifications and licensure available in most areas of study. Central Tech also offers assistance to area businesses with safety training, business development and more.

“Central Tech graduates continue to have a major impact on our communities and the Oklahoma economy,” said Phil Waul, Central Tech Superintendent.

Students who completed full-time technical training at Central Tech last year earned more than $20 million combined in annual salaries with an average entry level salary of $32,089.

These statistics and others help prove there is a demand for highly trained skilled workers and that Central Tech produces students who qualify for high wage and high demand jobs.
