Renovation Underway at Central Tech Sapulpa Campus

“Our stakeholders are excited about the new look of the Sapulpa campus. We are remodeling the main building and it will tie in nicely with the HVAC/BIS building,” said Kim Howard, Sapulpa campus director.

Over the years, Central Tech’s Sapulpa campus has seen several small renovation projects and now is in the midst of its largest renovation project to date. The “facelift” renovates the exterior creating a more modern appearance and fixing a footing problem. In addition, the sidewalks will be updated to meet ADA compliance, the front doors will be enhanced for energy efficiency, and LED lighting will be added in the back parking lot for safety and brightness.

Central Tech withheld general building funds for the past five years to prepare for the renovation. By planning ahead the school is making improvements without requesting a bond issue.

The completion date is scheduled for Summer 2016. To learn more about Central Tech and see it first-hand, visit Central Tech’s Open House Sunday, February 14 from 1-4 p.m.

History of Building

Central Technology Center’s second campus was developed in 1978 in a former Gibson’s department store. The school opened with six programs and 15 employees, and was revamped in 1982 with the addition of the seminar center.

In 1984, a new building was constructed west of the main building to add Welding and Machine Tool programs. Then in 2002, Central Tech built on to the main building expanding the Southeast wing to provide space for support services and training for area businesses. The Business & Industry Services’ (BIS) Industrial and Safety Training Center was added in 2014 to provide much needed safety training to local businesses.

Central Tech serves more than 22,000 annual enrollments and provides customized business and industry training to more than 500 area businesses and is a proud member of the Oklahoma CareerTech System.
