Business and industry leaders from across Oklahoma were honored during the annual Partners in Progress celebration, held Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Edmond. Hosted by the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education (OkACTE), the event recognized companies that work one-on-one with CareerTech technology centers to provide career training, hands-on learning, and workforce development opportunities for students.

Each year, technology center districts across the state nominate one outstanding partner for the Partner in Progress award. Honorees are selected based on their demonstrated commitment to students, ongoing collaboration with educators, and investment in Oklahoma’s workforce pipeline.

Crossland Construction was named Central Technology Center’s 2025 Partner in Progress. The family-owned company was recognized for its innovative Kickstart program, which provides paid internships and apprenticeships to high school and CareerTech students. This year alone, Crossland hired four Central Tech students, helping them gain valuable, real-world experience in the construction industry.

“Our partners don’t just support our programs—they help build futures,” said Kent Burris, superintendent of Central Tech. “The Partner in Progress award highlights what’s possible when industry and education work hand in hand. Crossland’s dedication to our students and commitment to training the next generation of skilled professionals makes them more than a partner—they’re a vital part of our success.”

Legislators were invited to attend the celebration, joining educators and business leaders to honor the essential role that industry partnerships play in Oklahoma’s career and technology education system.

Crossland Construction was named by Central Tech as their 2025 Partner in Progress during the annual celebration at the Hilton Garden Inn in Edmond, OK. (L to R) – Brent Haken, Mike VanSandt, Casey Chesser, Curtis Miles, Kent Burris, Skye McNiel.
