Students from Central Tech’s Drumright and Sapulpa campuses earned 18 team and individual awards in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) state competition on March 14 in Tulsa, OK. Among those 18 awards, four teams and five individuals placed first, moving them on to the BPA national competition later this year. Students competed in parliamentary procedures, financial analysis, global marketing, advanced spreadsheet, financial management and accounting categories against students from all over the state.

In addition to competition awards, Central Tech and students earned individual and chapter awards, including four statesman torch awards, the highest state individual student recognition, six BPA Cares chapter awards, and one BPA State Merit Scholar award (one of only two in the state) for Jeri Dodson from Yale high school.

On the national level, Central Tech students were recognized at this year’s state contest for their 2017 national achievements, taking home three top-ten team awards and four top-40 individual awards. Tiffany Windholz from Cleveland also earned an Ambassador Torch Award in the high school category and Annette Kissler earned an Ambassador Torch Award in the adult category. Ashley Thompson from Sapulpa also earned an Ambassador Torch award. Overall, Central Tech placed in seven BPA Cares chapter award categories.

Business Professionals of America offers co-curricular exercises to students to help them develop professionalism, leadership experience and many other skills. For more information about Central Tech visit our website. To learn about the national BPA student organization, visit bpa.org.
