PRE-ENGINEERING ACADEMY
Create the Future
Dive into class with project-based learning and industry-leading 3D software to design your own projects. Use digital logic to build and program robotics. Honors level math and science classes help you to apply math and science to engineering concepts to create your own future.
“This is a great place for kids to learn the basics of engineering. I am blown away by the instructors attention to the growth and development of the students.”

Pre-Engineering
Pre-Engineering prepares high school students for success in colleges of engineering.
Math and science are combined with engineering-related classes to provide you with academic preparation and an understanding of engineering to determine your interest in pursuing engineering as a career. If you choose to attend as a junior and senior, you will take the PLTW Pre-Engineering pathway. If you attend for three years, and enroll as a sophomore, you will take the Advanced PLTW Pre-Engineering Academy which includes an extra year of curriculum.
Graduates from the Academy should be planning to obtain a college degree in an engineering discipline.
“Strong foundations are critical in engineering disciplines, and this program goes above and beyond to provide that for the students.”
“Pre-Engineering allows you to truly grasp the point of engineering and gives you a fun way of understanding it.”

Female students in the Pre-Engineering and Biomedical Sciences classes attended the Women in Sciences conference last week. They experienced a hands-on science fair, college and career opportunities, interactive panel discussion with 5 different women in the STEM field, explored the @sciencemuseumok, participated in an engineering challenge, planetarium show, and STEM activity tables.

Let the games begin! Pre-Engineering students were challenged to see who could build a device to launch beanbags the farthest. The challenge evolved into whose device could consistently hit a target. The project reached carnival status this week as students and staff tested the launchers to win prizes.

The Biomedical Sciences and Pre-Engineering classes hosted their annual poster symposium today. Students are assigned a capstone project where they choose a problem they would like to solve. They must research, test, and provide results on the issue they chose.

How much thrust does a model rocket engine produce? Pre-Engineering aerospace students ignite an engine connected to a force sensor to graph the thrust output as the rocket travels through its ascent, coast, and descent phase. (HINT: This engine can produce nearly 200 pounds of thrust!)
